Monza results, overall results and .... PRIZEWINNERS!!!

Ok, first the results and some writing about the Monza race.

You noticed, as Monza is a track that is suitable for it, we ALL raced in ONE heat, which again was a very spectacular sight!

LOTS was still at stake, as the Driver Championship still was not decided yet! Don't Lift Teammates Sean Edwards and Timon Bolier would have to fight for it!
Not only them two, Timon even suffered from some actions he didn't like that endangered his chances. He even got a 'Schumi-Hakkinen-Spa 2000' from Iron_Gr and... yours truely CasH :D.

In all honesty Sean was disadvantaged, due to missing a race and one DSQ at Monaco, but it shows his skills he still còuld make it! Eventually it was indeed Sean Edwards winning the Monza races, but Timon Bolier was not far away enough to change the rankings anymore. BIG congrats to Timon! A true Champion!

Don't Lift won the title, followed at respectfull distance by Olympic Motor Racing Team 1. GREAT performace by them both!
For the Teams it was a real fighting Championship as well!
Even within Teams!
Like mentioned in previous news, EU Racers and their Captain Taurus had fierce fights within the Team and with Lowland Racing Team for 3rd place. LRT themselves had some internal scraps, even at Monza (due to some stupid Overall Admin, not being me) braking way too late, slamming CasH into Patrick Wartenberg. Tygernoot (oops, now I did mention him ;P) even laughed for 2 laps about his action! I can tell you he'll notice in his pay-check soon ;).

Taurús' EU Racers however beat CasH's LRT for 3rd place! Well done guys!

The FINAL Top 3's now:

Drivers:
1. Timon Bolier
2. Sean Edwards
3. Andreas Spengler

Teams:
1. Don't Lift
2. Olympic Motor Racing Team 1
3. EU Racers

CONGRATS ALL!

BUT.....

What most of course want to know, is WHO won our PRIZES, sponsored by FANATEC?

As you know it's NOT just the winner!
Thanks to our system described above, we'd draw from several groups of placed drivers.

I won't keep you in extra, unnecessary tension anymore ;).

The winner of the 3rd prize, the Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera wheel (see pic above) is:
STOKEREL!

The winner of the 2nd prize, the Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo wheel  (see pic above) is:
LOCUTUS!

The winner of the 1st prize, the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS wheel  (see pic above) is:

Drumroll.........................

TIMON BOLIER!

BIG CONGRATS GUYS!
On behalf of the TYKA Staff and FANATEC we hope you guys really enjoy the prizes!
Feel free to brag all over the internet about it ;).

Spa results

In Qualify Sean Edwards improved over real life Porsche Super Cup. With us he did manage to take pole, however with a very small margin to the ever fast Andreas_Spengler; only 0.056 seconds between them on the longest track in the schedule!

Of course the races at our WET Spa were dominated by Sean. We knew in advance, therefore the subtitle of our Championship: 'Beat The Rainmaster'.
Fortunately it wasn't as easy as expected, as JuanFran from Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 had other ideas.
Together with his Teammate Andreas_Spengler, they managed to take second and third place in Race 1, leaving Timon Bolier off the podium, which the latter made up for in Race 2.

Behind the podium the usual fights for the points as well. However not with the usual contesters you'd expect.
Don't Lift's Locutus even had to struggle in Race 1 to keep off EU Racers' Iron_Gr and... yes, even CasH, who learned a lot apparantly from 2008's lessons at Spa from Sean, finishing in an unusual 10th place!
I honestly have to add that Team EU Racers did contribute to that, as in both Race 1 and 2, they had fierce battles between their members, even blocking their own (NOT pleased!) Team Captain Taurus. I can add CasH really enjoyed it :D.

Team C-RACE did well ok, but unfortunately their fastest man, [FB]Ran, got penalised afterwards for an inappropriate action. This putting him from 13th in 16th position, costing them valuable points. His Teammate Bg4shf finishing right behind him.
In Race 2 however [FB]Ran fought back and finished in a great 8th position overall.

User Reports:

By Tygernoot:

"The first race was over pretty quickly. As I was pretty slow in  qualifying due to a lack of practice I had to start in the second heat. The first lap I was leading the pack into Eau Rouge when I got  hit from behind, causing me to hit the wall which effectively ended my race.

The second race I had to start from the back but gradually made up positions. I was in second position in the final laps but made it into the lead when the person that hit me in race one made a mistake.

For the final race I hope to be back in heat 1 or at least be in front of Cash again as this was very embarrassing on my part :)"

By Stokerel:

"Like many others, I've waited for this two races from the start of the season, as Spa is such a great track to drive. Also, as expected, my laptimes were awful compared to the guys in front, in qualy losing more than 4 seconds to Sean, but fortunately I was consistent enough to battle in the middlefield.

Starting Race1 from the rear I was very careful in turn1 and Eau Rouge, maybe to careful but gained a few positions to guys hitting each other. Soon enough Wes disposed of me in one quick move in Les Combes and I tried to follow him and CasH as close as possible. I had only one chance to overtake C. as I had a better exit from Eau Rouge on one lap, but it was not enough as he defended very well. In front, teammate and Boss Taurus almost lost it in the same place and both me and CasH managed to get past. I tried to conserve the tires for the remaining laps, but I started to rapidly lose grip and time. Mate buattila caught me and I eased up letting him try catch CasH. He couldn't and he let me get in front before the finish line (no team orders CasH :) ) (thanks mate).

Race2, I started easy, gaining again a few positions, but from lap2 I had no one in front, and in the back iron_gr was far behind unable to catch me. The remaining 10 laps were so boring as I almost fell asleep. I had to push as hard as I could without making the smallest mistake to keep awake, and I did my pb on this track by over half a second, LOL!
Hopefully I did well enough both races to keep Boss T. happy and C. and his team behind in the Team Rankings :)

Can't wait for the last race of this great season! I bet the audience is thrilled as the Driver's Championship will be decided there."

By Timon Bolier:

“During the qualify of Wednesday I thought I set a front row lap for sure with 28.3.. I was surprised Friday they out-qualified me all three :D… I saw the track was changed and it felt different, I also asked Juan if it was different and he confirmed the grip was a little different.. but others said it was the same again.. Weather this is true or not it doesn’t really matter. I did some laps and didn’t go much faster than 28.3 anyway, but the setup seemed to work less well especially in the race missing speed to the others.. Maybe they just practiced their socks off :D so well deserved for them… I was just going for good points to keep the gap to Edwards manageable in the championship after qualifying fourth. In Race one there was a scary first corner move which I had to avoid and dropped down to p7… after a few laps, back to P4. In the second race it was a decent drive from p4 to p3… Happy with the points and no crash result! Then Monday I woke up and my ankles were swollen bad.. they had hurt a whole week already, but I pushed them too far by sitting the wrong position with racing too tight to the pedals and pushing them extra by cycling thinking they needed exercise Sunday… lol.. Now I sit here recovering and decided to write this report as I am not sure at the moment when I am able to race again. I hope Friday so I am able to qualify for Monza. Anyway the spa race was fun and the whole season too, so it has been a great enjoyable well managed league so far.”

Valencia results

Again 'problems' for Sean Edwards in Valencia Qualify. Not as desastrous however as in real life, where Sean did pole, but had to start at the back, as his Porsche didn't have enough fuel left after Qualify. In our League his Don't Lift Teammate Timon Bolier just beat him. Marginally, but still ;).
Race 1 showed a similar gap, however in favour of Sean Edwards.

Race 2 again the outcome was reversed, with Timon winning and Sean finishing second.
Behind this internal battle the other Teams and drivers did their utmost best to score maximal for their Teams.
3rd Placed Team EU Racers did ok with Stokerel scoring many points in Race 1 for his Team, finishing in 7th place overall.

Then there was Lowland Racing Team. Placed 4th in the rankings at the moment. For some reasons unknown Team Captain CasH can't have them understand not to hold up eachother. Race 1 was a many laps battle between Veldt000, Patrick Wartenberg, Ricardoferreira and CasH. Luckily, due to some pressure and threats of yours truely the order of finishing was better :P. On top of that poor Tygernoot couldn't join Race 2 for technical reasons. All this causing EU Racers to increase the gap with good OLD LRT...

By Marvin42:

"Heat 2 Race 1

Qualifying was surprisingly good for me and I get a great start to race 1 from 4th on the grid, passing KostasCB1 for 3rd place. T1 approaches and I see a gap on the inside of Stokerel. As he turns into T1 we touch and I go up the kerb and into the barrier. Desperate to select reverse gear, I go for neutral then pull the gear paddle on the wheel so hard that the wheel comes clean off the desktop … AARGH !!!   By the time I have the wheel back in position I re-join the track in last place. Sorry for causing mayhem, everyone. As I exit T2 I pass ianstuart who looks like he has had a spin and I can see CasH and my team-leader Amanda in the distance so I set off in pursuit. About three-quarters of the way around L1 Amanda lets me past; unfortunately her new PC is giving her video problems, making racing difficult. At the final hairpin Snakey has had an incident so I pass him as we start L2. I see CasH up ahead and by L3 I am on the back of an epic tussle between sailsy, CasH and Rinker. Sailsy spins and so I follow Rinker as he chases CasH; at least I am now in P10. I make a move on Rinker on L4 and it sticks : yippee … now P9. CasH gradually pulls away but by L9 I have caught Don_Huio. Don is great to watch: he just pitches the car into a corner then gathers it up on the exit. Somehow I pass him on L10 and he passes me back 2 corners later. We have a brilliant battle on L11 but I just cannot get past. By L12 I am over-driving in my efforts to pass Don and he starts to pull away from me. I circulate in P9 until the end of the race. Not bad considering my T1 mistake on L1.

 Heat Race 2

9th on the grid after race 1 and a reasonable start sees me in 8th after some action at T1. Sailsy is ahead of me and in my mirror I can see that Snakey is right behind. Snakey is pushing hard and I try to be defensive whilst still chasing sailsy. This works until half way around L2 when I take a right-hander too tight and clip the wall. I half-spin and both Snakey and Ricardo Ferreira go past … now I am P10. On L3 there is a flash of red flying past me … CasH has pushed me down to P11 :(   I manage to stay with CasH and as we start L4 we meet Don_Huio. CasH passes Don on the outside and I pass him on the inside into T1. Unfortunately CasH is turning into T1 as I get there and I hit him on his right rear quarter. This pushes the two of us wide and Don_Huio passes us both. Sorry CasH. Don and CasH steadily pull away from me and my next surprise is a mirror full of Patrick Wartenburg on L7. Patrick does a fine job of braking late into a right-hander and is past. On the exit of the next corner we catch Don_Huio and we chase Don for the next couple of laps. By L9 we have all caught sailsy and Patrick slips past Don under braking. Don immediately puts Patrick under pressure whilst Patrick is trying to find a way past sailsy.  I think to myself “something will have to give” and sure enough on L10 Patrick spins causing Don to brake hard to avoid him. I pass them both and then try to catch sailsy. I am behind him by L11 and he makes life easy for me by making a small error, letting me by. For the remaining laps I occasionally see Snakey in the distance but he is too far ahead and so I maintain P8 to the end.

Don't forget your umbrellas for Spa"

By A_C_Muller:

"After missing many races this Panda was eager to do well at Valencia!
Race 1 - Started off well, but on lap 1 tiny errors caused spins, contact with the walls and plenty of car damage.
With two of these errors causing flat tires, I lost plenty of time in the pits.
At one point in time my screen locked-up for what felt like 15 seconds.
When it cleared up I found myself in the wall with plenty of black smoke.
I shifted into 1st gear, trying out my car and the motor wasn't burnt out - but then I had no in-car view.
Switching to my Roof-cam view, it felt like I was driving a truck (height wise) that's Porsche powered.
I then experienced other video troubles that hampered my race - arg!
To my surprise, I finished 29th with the chance of scoring my first points at FPSC 2008, YAY!
Race 2 - I had no graphic troubles, no screen lock-ups and only one flat tire due to tagging a wall at speed.
The first turn mele, like in race one was predictable but required carefuly picking my way through cars.
I did much better in this race with less car damage and a 28th place finish and a chance to score more points!
We now move onto Spa & this Panda eagerly awaits the challenge of driving in the rain, the dark & as if on ice - WEE!"

Unlike real life PSC last year, Sean Edwards was up to steam again this one. However, the weekend turned out to be a sursprise again, due to unforseen reasons...

The same plan he had for race 2, but due to a red flag situation (read: server had power loss) the results stood as they were at the end of lap 6.
So after his almost win at Hockenheim, Race 2 was for Andreas Spengler! Congrats with his first ever victory! Well deserved!

The other fast Don't Lift driver Timon Bolier suffered a puncture early in the race, therefore leaving him and Don't Lift no points in 27th place overall. Well, sorry for him, but good for the CHampionship, as this way Top 3 only got closer with only 3 races to go.

Hilarious stuff going on as well :). Jamesowen for some unknown reason (no pubs around track, so?!?!) took out many markers around the track, causing a 7 car pileup in Race 1, Heat 2. 'Fun' to watch, but not for the poor drivers involved. A firm warning by the League Admins for Jamesowen followed.

In general I have to compliment the drivers and their behaviour however! Hardly any disputes and therefore no penalties this time! Keep it up guys! Great!

User Reports:

By Timon Bolier:

“Well what I can say... My championship is basically ruined by a kamikaze move by Juanfran.. I was fighting with Edwards for the lead corner one when Juanfran brake way too late 50 meter behind us and rammed me full in my back, crippling my car very bad. I had a rear puncture and had to struggle back to pits, finishing last almost a lap down. Second race having to start from the back I moved through the back pack of the field first few laps, until I got hit out again into the wall for ANOTHER puncture! Both races were useless for me. I haven’t done anything wrong myself especially in race one and got drilled my championship chances up my ass! That’s how I feel. Anyway I want to add that after race one, Juanfran came to me in PM and said sorry. I wasn’t angry at that time nor am I now, just frustrated after wards on how amateur like this all really was. Juanfran said sorry and all is fine now. He also said he waited for me a long time, but I wasn’t showing up with the rear puncture spinning many times. Anyway I will see how the championship ends, but Edwards just got his piece of luck he wanted so let’s see if he can pull this one off. See you all in Valencia!”

Hockenheim, Race Report and movies

I keep saying it, but how impressive it is to watch at least two big grids with >20 cars taking off, battling all the way!
I'm happy we this time even got two video reports from both Iron_Gr and CostasCB1. Thanks guys! Really cool job and fun to watch (see below in 'reports').

Since Sean Edwards has returned, I guess we all expected him to take an easy win...
However this time, even having his usual amazing speed, it became a nervous wait for him until all results were calculated, based on the handicap for the smaller heat in Timezone C, comparted to the main heats!
Up to then it was Andreas Spengler from Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 who had the best time overall, and that at his hometrack!

Unfortunately the heat Andreas raced in was so small compared to the main heats, overall the victory still went to... Sean Edwards. Sorry Andreas! Still an amazing good second place in both Race 1 and Race 2 for him! Breaking the dominance of Team Don't Lift again and scoring many points for his Team!

Race 2 was also a very good one for Team EU Racers!
Buattila and Iron_Gr finished in 5th and 6th place overall! I guess their Team Captain Taurus was very pleased with that, as he himself suffered from troubles in the last lap, just being able to hold off CasH, his rival Admin and Team Captain of Lowland Racing Team, where Danny3L did a good job for, finishing 7th! Well done!

The fight for 3rd place in the Team Rankings continues between EU Racers and LRT...

Beside the serious fights, of course some things to laugh about as well. As before with my fellow Overall Admin Veldt000, THE rival of CasH ;). In his desperate try to gain places at the start of the race of Heat 2, Race 2, he managed again to almost cause chaos at T1. That race he just finished in front of CasH (the lucky **** can be happy he didn't get disputed for cutting, or he would have lost again :P :D).
Of course the situation was normalised in Race 2 ;).

“Lots of fighting in both races.. first race was fighting nicely with Edwards for the lead, lots of fun.. unfortunately I span out of the track unlucky when we collided which was my fault.. catched up with wes and loc and juan on the back. Managed to still finish second in the heat. Second race the fight started immediately first laps, first I was battling for the lead with Edwards, but unfortunately I got tabbed (not on purpose) by someone and dropped down to 5th. Unlucky for wes and loc who span I managed to get back to third and overtake Juan when he was fighting with Edwards. Juan span off into the wall L and Edwards went into hotlap mode, so I just decided to relax in second. My car was very loose with all the fuel and the back-end used to go all the time under braking making mistakes. However I am happy with the results. Congrats to Don’t Lift and my unlucky for the those who were involved in incidents L. See you next one.”

"Heat2 race 1

i started the race from p8 as a few drivers didnt show up,afer narrowly missing a big spin and incedent at turn 1(see pic),which appeared to be someone tapping and turning marvin42 around not to sure who but anyway i just carried on at my normal slow ;) race pace in p7
After 4 laps rinker appeared to spin on the exit of turn2 giving me another position p6 he tried to catch me up again in the next few laps and was doing so.
on lap6 he eventually got down the inside of me at the tight hairpin forcing me wide but with enough room for 2 cars we were going into the next turn 2 cars wide so i was forced to back off to avoid a silly accident also knowing he was faster anyway.(see pic)
But on lap 9 rinker spun in front of zunik again at turn 2 giving me my position back p6, on lap 11 sailsy made a mistake or had a little mistameanor with another driver at turn 6 i think forcing him to spin and giving me an extra place p5 he was chasing me hard till the end of the race and was very close but i held my position till the end another few laps he would of had me for sure.
End result P5 heat 2 p22 overall

Heat 2 race 2

starting from p5 i knew i would have trouble holding my position as there was a few guys behind me i knew were much faster but as always never say never in racing so i just gonna do my normal race.
i gained a position going into turn 1 p4 then going into turn 2 there a mash up of cars and i managed to squeese through them in p2 following dannyl who was some way in front at p1,stokerel chased and quickly dispatched me at the hairpin though veld00 also tried but he went a little deep as i kept a clean line out of the hairpin he had to backoff putting me back to p3,knowing i was out of position and being chased like a pack of hounds i knew eventually the hungrey dogs behind me would overtake me soon(see pic) but i just kept my race pace and tried not to make any mistakes and make it hard as possible without taking any drivers out.
veld000 was close by for the next 3 laps but i tried to keep clean lines to make it hard for him and the others following him closely on lap 4 veld000 eventually got me cleanly at the hairpin under braking.ricardoferriera quickly took me at the next 2 corners with don huio breathing down my neck i braked too late going into the stadium section and don flew past dropping me to p6 by lap 6,but luckily for me ricardoferreira spun at turn 2 putting me back to p5 with walter chasing in p6.
i could see walter was closing in on me quickly and knew he would get me soon but held out till lap 8 where he got me on the brakes at the hairpin like everyone else lol so was down to p6 again with noone really gaining on me.After that i just drove my pace till the end but on the last lap bad luck strikes for don huio as he runs out of fuel gifting me p5.
End result P5 heat 2 p23 overall

overall enjoyable racing! its races like these that make me race in events like this because i know im not fast enough to win or compete at the front with the quality of drivers in this league but still makes for great entertainment non the less."

"Race 1

Waiting for the green lights … waiting … waiting … GO.  I had a good start and when zunik braked early for T1, I went for the inside line. Big mistake. I had not seen RicardoFerrei trying an inside move on me and so we collided: Ricardo spinning to the inside of the corner, me spinning to the outside. To add insult to the injury, when we both re-joined from opposite sides of the track, we met nose-to-nose and came to a stop again !!! Sorry Ricardo, we both lost out at T1. Ricardo then gets going ahead of me so I follow and we both pass jamesowen as he takes to the grass. OMG, all this action and we're only on lap 1. I continue to follow Ricardo who is closing in on Ianstuart and manage to pass Ian on  lap 4 as he re-joins the track. I manage to get close to Ricardo on lap 5 but on lap 8 I brake too late at the Sachs Kurve and slide onto the gravel. Ricardo has now disappeared into the distance and I have a lonely drive until the end of lap 11 where I catch sight of Ricardo and Rinker having a good battle up front. As I go around T2 on lap 12 I see Rinker on the grass … he re-joins behind me and follows close so I try to be as smooth as I can. Part-way around lap 13 Rinker disappears from my mirror so I simply try not to crash as I circulate on my own to the end of the race.

 Race 2

Another good start and, thankfully, clean through T1 and T2. Bit of a shock exiting T2 though, as poor old zunik is sitting in the middle of the track, pointing the wrong way !

Safely past zunik and off in pursuit of Snakey, Veldt and sailsy. RicardoFerrei and Don Huio both get past me under braking and I try to stay with these five guys as they have an epic battle for the next few laps. By lap 5 my mirror is full of Walter976 and he makes a lunge up the inside at the Spitzkehre. Walter runs wide and I cut back inside but he has better drive out of the corner and is ahead by the next turn … nice one, Walter. He pulls away and it gets lonely again until I enter T2 on lap 6 where I see a car re-joining the circuit. It's RicardoFerrei and I just have enough momentum to pass him. Ricardo follows closely but when I look in my mirror at the start of lap 7 it's Rinker I see, not Ricardo. Rinker puts the pressure on and I run wide into T2 … damn … Rinker and zunik both go past and I can see Ricardo again in my mirror. I try to stay with Rinker and zunik but by the end of lap 9 Ricardo has caught me and is looking for a way past. I take a defensive line into T2 but brake way too early. Ricardo simply drives right around the outside of me and he is gone. A short while later it looks like Ricardo and zunik have had an encounter and this allows me to close right up to zunik. Lap 11 is tense as I try to keep up with zunik and as we exit T3 on lap 12 we both pass Ricardo who appears to be recovering from another spin. Maximum concentration is required for the next few laps as I try to find a way past zunik but he is just too quick. I have a fright on the last lap when Rinker makes a lunge down the inside at the Spitzkehre but he is just a bit too late on the brakes and runs wide. I glance in the mirror to see where he is but Rinker is not there … it's Ricardo yet again.  Ok, this is the final half of the last lap, don't mess up and maybe Ricardo won't get past. He tries a move on every corner but I just hang on to the end of the race. Great driving Ricardo, you made me work for that finish."

"The return of the Chav..."

After being absent for one race, Sean Edwards returned. This time to race his hometrack, which he also won in real life last year! How embarrassing if he now got beaten here...

Qualify however looked good for him, being almost half a second faster then second placed Don't Lift Team mate Timon Bolier and even more to third placed Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 driver JuanFran.

In the main races 'The rest' tried very hard to keep up with the pace.
As always exciting to see these big grids with close racing!

Yet again thrilling action all over the place!
Some were so convinced, after a not too good qualify, to 'just' storm forward through the grids. Some did, but some didn't make it until the finish line. I won't mention names, but below is a nice shot of Don't Lift 2 driver Chacal, doing a great pass at Stowe.

Poor CasH was challenged by him, being told he would get beaten twice, but apparantly Chacal tried too hard to beat the old Admin. The second race he even drove off his Team 1 team mate Stewart!

Guess Chaggy didn't read previous news about Team mates Buattila and Taurus... ;). Sorry Chacal! Better luck next time!
Initially SRFC_NTD did a great Race 1, finishing in Top 10! The only one breaking the dominance of Don't Lift, Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 and EU Racers. However due to some penalties, he ended up in 16th place. Still a good result with 45 contesters!

Some close qualifying again this time! Positions 1-11 within one second and 1-21 within 2 seconds! Sander_n seemed to have taken pole, but appeared to have a small cut, so again Timon Bolier started from the front of the grid!

A very testing weekend for sander n

The close qualify promised some fierce action for the races, and it did. Poor Sander_n however suffered mechanical problems, dropping him down the rankings. Both races were dominated by Timon Bolier, extending his lead over his main rival and Team mate Sean Edwards, who couldn't score due to a penalty.
Timon's Team Don't Lift however didn't have the massive victory like they had in Monaco; they didn't dominate the Top 5, but it was a mix of Don't Lift, Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 and, specially in Race2, Lowland Racing Team with Danny3L and Tygernoot clinching 9th and 10th position.

Like said, in both races it was very close with those two big grids, so spectacular action all over the place!

EU Racing  desperately tried to hold off Lowland Racing Team to keep their third place in the Team rankings.
SO desperate Buattila even managed to force off his Team Captain Taurus. This giving yours truely, CasH, the chance to overtake both :). Dunno if Taurus was that happy with such actions ;).

Luckily for them both made it to the finish and their Team mate Sailsy finished 21st and 26th in both races, just scoring some valuable points for them. This couldn't prevent Lowland Racing Team JUST overtaking them in the Team rankings. My guess however is they'll try to make up for that in Silverstone ;).

"Qualifying - Quite good lap times, a vast improvement on past qualifying sessions. Now its either 1 of 3 things ( or all ) , we had 2 weeks to practice on this track , the track suited my driving style, or , im getting better at driving these tin tops. I like to think its the last one , but lets see at next track.

Race 1 - Well, what a fook up ! Before the race i had high expectations of finishing in quite a high place, 3rd maybe 4th and if i was having an off day i would be able to hold onto 5th position.
I got off to a good start from 3rd place on the grid. Made my way down the long straight towards Adelaide with a good pace and was half a second infront of 4th place guy. Sweet i thought, just gotta get round the tight bend fast approaching and im zoom zoom zoom for the rest of the track.

Got myself positioned nicely in the middle of the track ready for the long brake into Adelaide corner. I say middle of the track because, from my many practice laps, the braking zone gets a bit wobbly, the track is quite uneven down there, and if you are on the left hand side of the track as you normally would be getting ready for a right hand turn and you start braking hard, the track throws your car to the left and you can quite easily end up on the grass. So, middle of the track and i see the 150m marker fast approaching. On this 1st lap we have to start braking at that 150m marker cos the brakes are so cold they hardly even work, normally you can start braking at the 100m marker once the brakes have warmed up.

I timed my braking just right and was making a perfect right turn around that corner then all of a sudden a bump on my back end and i spin right around........ What the hell !!!, the nearest guy was half a second away, i should have been exiting the turn when he was just entering it, the dumbass braked tooo late and he just happen to use my rear bumper to slow himself down enough so he didnt overshoot the corner.

I managed to set off again and came out of Adelaide corner in 6th place. Not bad i thought , only lost 3 places considering i had come to a total stop and had to let a couple of cars pass me before i set off again.
So the race was on again, held my position and was settling into a comfortable pace for the next couple of laps , pulling away from 7th place and gaining on 5th place. Now, i think it was 2-3 laps later we had just crossed the start/finish line , through Grande Courbe and around Estoril bend and im in 5th place, 4th and 3rd place guys must have had a battle on that bend and both of them came out of it with a slow pace, i was quickly gaining on both of them.
All 3 of us were on the long straight towards Adelaide , 1 guy on the left of the center line and 1 guy on the right of it, i saw the gap in the middle of them and headed straight for it hoping to squeeze through and come out of Adelaide in 2nd place. The gap in the middle starts to close but its too late, my front end is already half way into the gap, the guy on my left kept moving over and all of a sudden my front wheels lose traction and im suddenly sliding off to the right, i hit the brakes but i couldnt steer and WHAM...... i hit the wall running down the right hand side of that long straight. FOOOOOOK !!!

I tried turning left back onto the track and it just wasnt having any of it , no left turn for this car anymore. It felt like i had lost a front wheel , but it was the suspension that had gone on 1 side of the car. I slowly limped back to the pits all the while spinning at nearly every right hand turn and everyone behind me overtaking me. By the time i had got to the pits i was in last position.
At this point i was seriously thinking about DNF'ing the race, but in the name of team spirit, i decided to carry on and make it a challenge to try and not come last.

In the pits my car was repaired and had to sit there an agonising 18 seconds before i could set off again. The pit timer hits zero and i slam it into 1st gear and im away with the only thought on my mind to catch up to the back runners and try and gain some dignity by not finishing last. Now at this point, exiting the pits , ive done so many practice laps that normally i set off from the pits and turn off the pit speed limiter as soon as im out of the garage, i had done it a hundred times before, it was just so natural for me to hit that button, except , this was RACE DAY, and guess what.... I HIT THAT BUTTON .. NOOOOOO, too fast in the pits !!
In my short time as a professional racing driver ive only ever pitted once during the race , and that one other time i rememberd NOT to turn the pit speed limiter button OFF.

I saw a sign appear that i had never seen before , apparently it was a drive through sign for going too fast in the pits. Ok i thought, i go round the track again and then go back into the pits , not too much of a problem. So i enter the pits for a 2nd time this race, i pull into the red box, my tyres get changed by the pit crew and 13 seconds later i exit the pits again... but.... that sign is still there ...hmmmm... what ... i just did my penalty.... didnt i ??
So i go round again, down the stright towards Adelaide, start my braking just after the 150m marker ( cold tyres ) , but... whats this ... has the straight got shorter ... Adelaide bend is approaching waaaay tooo fast , i didnt stop in time and off the track i go ... hmmm, ok, the tyres must be even colder than i anticipated. To the pits i go to try and serve that penalty AGAIN! I didnt want to ignore it or i would end up with a DSQ after a few laps. So into the pits a 3rd time , stop in the red box, tyres changed , 13 seconds later im off again... that damned sign is stilll there , oh well, im driving on regardless this time.

Down the long straight towards Adelaide . again.. and i start braking at what i thought was the 150m marker , nice and early this time, dont wanna overshoot the track again.... but.... OMG!!! The track has definatly gotten shorter , i go sliding off AGAIN !!!!, what the hell is happening here... as i spin round to get back on the track , i look back up the long straight and catch a glimps of the marker signs ....... there is ONLY 2 SIGNS there , usually there is 3 !!!.
Turns out that a couple of laps previously someone had taken out the 150m marker sign , so what ppl were thinking was that 150m marker was actually the 100m marker, on the replay i saw a couple of ppl make the same mistake.

So i had just gotten back on the track and of course the drive through sign is still showing ( can this race get any worse !! ) and all of a sudden i hear my pit chief say to me " Drive through the pits to serve your penalty THIS LAP " .. oh my lord .. what a numbskull .. derrrr , a DRIVE THROUGH means exactly what it says on the tin .. no need to STOP.
So now i know that you drive THROUGH the pits at PIT SPEED and only when the chief tells you to.
I serve my penalty CORRECTLY this time and persue my goal of not finishing last... would it even be possible after this comedy of errors.

Well, after that not much interesting happend .. end result -- finished 13th out of 16 .. GOAL !!!!! and a valuable lesson learned ... Dont eat yellow snow."

By Stokerel:

"France brought me both frustration and satisfaction. Race 1 was non-existent for me, as my ISP suddenly decided 10 minutes before the start that it was a good time to change network equipment. So I stared at the computer screen for 45 minutes begging for an IP address. Finally, just before the room opened for race 2, I was back online.

Starting the second race from 20th, dead last, I had only one option to gain some points: be quick at the start and push 105% for the whole race distance. What followed was the most exciting race for me since Bahrain: I had an excellent start, gained a couple of positions before turn 1, survived a bump in the backside through the long right-hand turn, and followed the pack to the hairpin. From then on I was just behind my friend and teammate buatilla, he ran wide and I just managed to get the apex as he tried to close the door. The inevitable touch left both of us undamaged and at full speed.
For the following laps I chased my other teammate iron_gr and fought very hard with him for position. We touched a few times, honked and flashed each-other (sorry m8 if I was too aggressive) but in the end I think it was a very exciting fight. I overtook him, but in the last chicane I had a very bad exit and he managed to get past again, I followed end then after a few laps came an incident I regret but I couldn't avoid: iron closed on some slow drivers just before the last chicane, I had a very good exit from the last corner, but he tried to avoid the others and crossed my line. I tried to brake but unfortunately it was too late, and I touched him on the back and he hit the wall losing a few positions - I'm really sorry mate, it was no intention, I was just too close behind.

For the last laps I struggled with the tires, as buatilla closed on me, but it was too late for him to attack. Overall, an 11th place finnish on my heat, the best I could do..."

By Iron_Gr:

"1st race:
it was my best race so far! Some pressure from DJC in last laps, that's all! 6th place in my heat!
It was clean, Locutus spun in front of me then he closed the gap and passed me easily! Much speed there!! And the most important is that I WON my rival..... CasH !!!! hahaha!!

2nd race:
My worst race so far! I did revert to old setup (0.30 rear toe in)!! In first race i had 0.50  and it helped a lot but I stupidly thought the car could not steer well ,so I went back to original value... big mistake!!! I started 7th and finished 16th in my heat!

I did a mistake at start of race and put 2nd gear so early, I lost positions and then it was a disaster, cause I was trying to avoid front cars all the time, so irritating!!! I could not overtake anyone and always trying to avoid... FFS!  I also had an incident in first laps with Stewart and I cut an S and then I wanted to let him pass but brakes sucked and couldn't do it as others passed him... Sorry Stewart :(

Locutus came back on track in front of me at hairpin, bad place... I braked hard to avoid him and then Tygernoot passed me also...
Then I put hard effort not to HIT Tyger, cause I had a bad experience with him in Monaco race and I got penalized for that, although it was a lag problem! Trying not to hit Tyger I almost spun and stokerel passed me, but I managed to pass him again!

I found Tyger again in front of me and I made a mistake and 2 peeps passed me....

stokerel did not let me overtake... i did everything I could with caution, he just kept closing door and when I passed him, the worst came!!
I barely avoided a serious crash and stokerel(!) MY teamate(!) hit me from behind... FFS! At that point, the unavoidable happened... CASH passed ME!! LMAO! LOL!!

CasH hit MarcF1 and throws him out :D in front of me LOL!
TYKA_PSC2008
Remark by CasH: opinion of Iron. Not nessecarily the truth, as shown in past :D

I tried to take back my position... I made it but CasH regained it after hairpin!!
TYKA_PSC2008

Then CasH was all over the place (all cuts haha! :P ), he early braked and I almost hit him...
I lost my line and mrT came from the back angry!!

After some laps I lost control of the car and... fooked my race :(

Sometimes i make videos to tell my story, but now I'm lame and I prefer to write and do some shots :P"

Monaco, Race Report and important reading

Yet another great track: Monaco.
Apparantly, as always, this track scares off some drivers as the number of contesters was a bit lower than the other tracks. Not that weird, as it is one of the hardest tracks to finish, staying out of the walls and the many crashes during the races.
However still most managed to make it! Great!

Sorry to start boring by mentioning Sean Edwards got pole here ;). But stay tuned, as much happened during our Monaco races and the outcomes were slightly different then expected!

Race one the winner this time was NOT Sean, but his Don't Lift teammate Timon Bolier! GREAT effort! FINALLY someone beating Mr. Porsche! Well, at least it stayed within the Team...

Then disaster struck for Sean Edwards. Due to a penalty he had to give his initial victory in Race 2 to... again Timon Bolier! Could the pic below from real life Monaco have been some kind of prediction? :P

Race 1 Top 4 was completely for Don't Lift drivers! With fast as ever DJCruicky JUST off the podium.
This doing the Team rankings very good for them!

IN fact BOTH races were dominated by both Don't Lift and Olympic Motor Racing Team 1. Them taking Top 10 in Race 1 and almost all Top 10 in Race 2.
Only Tygernoot (Lowland Racing Team) and Caner Basol (prof1tr) could snatch a Top 10 place in Race 2 and brake the dominance from both leading Teams! Well done guys!

One more Team that I HAVE to mention is again Black Panda Racing.
TWO of their drivers, 4L4N as well as KIWI managed to score the first points of the season for their Team! Amazing! Keep it up!!!

All in all a spectacular race again!

Now something about the rankings that, as you might have noticed, changed since Monaco. To keep a long story here short, I'd like to refer to our Forumpost HERE, which hopefully explains all.

Video Race 1, by Sander_n

User Reports:

By Timon Bolier:

"Race one, I was behind Edwards in his slipstream.. was aiming for p2 and hoping for a mistake maybe :D and he did, nailing the apex at chicane and went wide.. I could take the lead and now and Edwards was in my slipstream. The last 6 laps were very intense in a big battle for the lead. Edwards almost wrecked my car putting his nose in every gap possible :D, but happily I could defend and take the win after this thrilling battle.

Race two, I expected Edwards to have a better start and pole being on the left, I was aiming for p2 again. I had a good start though and chav jumping his car in corner one giving me the lead. The battle started immediately in lap 1 and with the cold shit brakes the back-end would jump out every corner under braking. Before the tunnel the back-end went and I hit the apex giving me a slow exit.. Edwards dove on the inside and we went 2 wide through the tunnel. He had the better run and clinched the lead. After that we started to pace faster than race one and unfortunately pushing closer to the limits i hit the apex of last corner with the side of my car :D Dropped back and settled for p2.

Great races, also Don't Lift really did great! This was a superb weekend for us all."

By Kamilo62:

"Monaco Race1 - After good Qualifications..with setup from my teammate. Time for race day..
Before start little problems with driving...my Driving wheel dont use good enough Force Feedback.
First race start from 12th position..Little wait for green and we are go.
Perfect start from me and after first turn..im 9...Next laps and again reach few positions...
Dramatic battle with understeering Car in few corners..After good 6 position in race time for spin in 1st turn....and lost 1 position...
Again few little crash in race....trouble with car steering...and i see blue flag 4 laps before race end - Very Good driving from Pablo Sixto
In end little better driving..and First Race im end at 7 position....good start...but not good race.....

Monaco Race2 - this time not good start....But again good finish in this Monaco aka Wall Hell...To many mistakes in turns lost good 5 positions in race...Must do it one pitstop...and the chance for good race was go on........Finish 8th with many trouble and mistakes on track...
But overall good, because i hate This Track...

Now 2 weeks with Magny Cours.....another little hard track for me. see you on the track"

By KIWI:

"Practice
80 odd laps at Monaco with my Team BPR and other Teams,I have to admit, tight tracks and Walls anit my favorite.

 Quailfy
Managed to get to five out of six sesions, with my best and PB of 1:43:013 slow, steady and I was happy with setup and feel of car,and funny enough the track
I quailfied 11/14 for TZC   overall 40/51

Race 1
A terrible start didnt help, lost rythmn and heaps of silly mistakes and errors, plenty of walls were hit,I pitted but got an stop/go penalty, not sure why lol anyway,I thought it was drive in/out so did so,but saw the stop/go still up so,pitted again, looked to the stop/go and saw I had another stop/go to serve omg anyways finished this race 11/14 , overall :race 1 finishing 42/46

Race 2
started 11/14 a fantasic start and good chase from team members of BPR kamilo,kf12006 as well as lokb first few laps lokb and I ,began to leave my two other team mates behind, with close quater racing,he was hot on my exaust pipe from start to finish but a small error last corner costing Kiwi, with lokb flys by and takes back the lead with finish line with in sights.

I was very pleased at my pace and race finishing 6/11 and overall 30/44

I've add a small slideshow,my first attempt."

Before I come to the actual races, I'd like to say something about our dispute procedures.
As you know drivers can be disputed for actions during a race. As I heard some guys complain about the outcomes, I wrote some explanation, so all know how we handle such disputes to make sure you all know it is being done fair. Read about it HERE.

Now the races!
As expected again both races were dominated by Sean Edwards (time for a holiday again Sean? :P).
His Team Don't Lift even had 7 drivers in the Top ten Qualify! Well done! But as it was VERY close again, Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 wasn't far away, with most of their drivers high ranked as well!

Both races dominated by 4 Teams: Don't Lift, Olympic Motor Racing Team 1, EU Racers and Prof1tr. An occasional driver from another Team tried to break the dominance of mentioned Teams.

Not much chance up to now. Only Tygernoot, SRFC_NTD and Bg4shf managed to slip in between them occasionally.
LRT's other fast driver Ricardoferreira had another disasterous race, ending his Top10 aspirations for Istanbul.

As usual both races were very close! As well in front, midfield and at the back! This way exciting for ALL, no matter which position you're in!
Of course the goal still is to score points. For yourself and for your Team.
Black Panda Racing fastest driver 4L4N both races JUST missed the positions to score. I wonder when they score their first point(s), as I know the Team is very close and dedicated! Partly due to the strict leadership of the Team: A_C_Muller. Keep it up guys (and girl)!

After having very little time for practice, I managed to get what I thought was an almost decent time in qualy. Unfortunately, it was not even close to decent, as many guys in the league are either extremelly talented or have lots of time for practice and the final qualy times were incredible. So I found myself starting from the front of Heat2 for the first time this championship.
The start was great, I managed to quickly gain a few positions and I was 2nd after Walter976, with veldt000 and my team-mate Taurus close behind after turn 2. For the next few straights and corners I followed Walter as close and possible and tried to overtake as I saw him struggling with the tire and brake temperature. Finally at one left hand turn I saw an opportunity as he ran very wide, but as I made the apex he was half a car in front, with the back drifting and I punted him on the side - I have to watch the replay to see exactly what happened, but I'm sure I hit Walter. I apologize again Walter, it was no intention in doing that.
After this incident I tried to build a gap between me and the guys behind and also conserve my tires. It worked for a while, until  Taurus finally decided he wouldn't let this happen and quickly closed the gap and overtook me with ease. I tried as much as possible to stop him but he was clearly much faster and also my team boss and I couldn't afford any more mistakes. So I settled for 2nd for a few more laps, until my tires started to give up and veldt000 came right on my tail. What followed was a 5-6 lap struggle to keep him behind which I did, but not without giving 105% - fortunately on this track it's quite easy to defend. Thanks m8 for the very entertaining and clean racing ;)

For the second race, I knew already Taurus was very quick so I tried to get a better start and get him in turn1. But I failed and he started building distance constantly and I had no chance to follow. He was always 1-1.5 seconds faster and all I could do is drive hard, make no mistakes and try not to lose much time. Again it was a second place finish, but the overall time in both races was very disappointing for me as I was no match for most of the guys in Heat1 as qualy predicted.

Now time for Monaco! I hope I'll get enough training to get as much points as possible for the team and keep that 3rd place in the standings."

Istanbul Race 1

Quailyfing little good for me, but not enough..Only 2.03.xxx and again hard start, from 10 position. Start quite good without problems. After good start and few turns on lap one i drive on 7 position - 1 driver [lokb] drive back of me.....But then small mistake from me in turn 8.....and after incredible "fight" last driver overtake me...and all race I drive on last position.I do it 2 more mistakes in race and before the first race end i see leader and Blue Flag when to end of the race was only 1 lap. Of course all other drivers been to quick for me..

Istanbul Race 2

Starting from 6th position..good start...drive to Turn 3 and 4 and then little crash from other drivers....Quick overtakes and 5th position at first lap...But then again little small mistakes.....I hate turn 8..and one by one all drivers say  "good bye kamilo62, im overtake you"
Little faster race for me than race1..but then dont know from and where i see Mittox and again blue flag....drive quick but like in rules...I must do it free place to leader..Last 3 turns to straight...double from Mittox and i say....F......he double me 500 m before the finish line....ahhh....and again + 1 lap...

For me not good all 2 races....other drivers to quick and i do it to many crashes."

By Tygernoot:
"
Race 1
I had a good start jumping from 13th on the grid to 11th. In turn 4 DJ  had spun but I couldn't see him because of the cars in front. When I entered the corner it was too late and I hit him hard in the side, damaging my front left suspension a bit.
When we came to the chicane DJ touched me a bit from behind and I had  to shortcut the chicane to avoid spinning or driving slowly on the racing line. It appeared JuanFran had hit DJ hard in his (other) side causing him to touch me.
In lap 3 iron_gr and McMilan were in front. The former braked too late  for the hairpin, hit McMilan causing them to spin and I managed to get through unharmed although this allowed Andreas to get past using the inside line.
I was a long time behind Andreas but he collided with tictac in the  final corner and I was able to pass them both. Near the end Kubus was in trouble and it wasn't hard to overtake him in his damaged car. So finally I ended up in 7th position.

Race 2
Starting from 7th was nice and I managed to pass Locutus in the first  corners. Andreas came up behind me and tried to pass in the hairpin but braked too late. We had a fight through the final corners but I stayed ahead. He kept following me closely and I was unable to keep  him behind.
There were no changes until lap 8 when Timon spun and I got ahead of him. After two laps of fighting he managed to pass me on the back straight. On the exit of turn 1 JoseSc spun in front of us on the racing line. Timon was able to pass on the left, but I didn't have any  room left. So in a intuitive maneuver I took the runoff area to avoid him which was pretty exciting.
In the final laps Jose came up behind and tried to overtake me in the  hairpin. The first two times he braked way too late and I had to wait steering into the corner to avoid an accident, each time retaking my position as Jose slid straight on. In the final lap he pushed his way  through on the inside of the corner but I took the outside line which lined me up nicely on the inside for the penultimate corner and I managed to stay ahead finishing in 6th position.

So again two pretty exciting races and so far the best race for me.  With very little practice it's hard to keep up with the faster guys, but with the full grids and the small differences in performance every  race always seems to be very close and definitely a lot of fun."

Time Zone Selection & League Schedule

First an important note: I have found the bug in the timezone selection, so it's still possible that the incorrect timezone has been selected for some people. I have added the current timezone to the provisional qualifying results so everyone can check whether he will be in the correct heat. If you need to change, send me an email to let me know. Please do so as soon as possible before the qualifying results are final (this evening) so it's still easy for me to change before the grids are generated.

Second, we will be taking a week off after the Monaco race. The next race at Magny-Cours will be held in two weeks time on 8 February. This break will allow me to implement some substantial code changes and perform other maintenance updates, which are otherwise hard to do during the week with the busy league schedule.

Barcelona, Race Report and important reading

Just before our next race the news for our Barcelona races.
Again joined by many drivers, competing at the highest level with minimum difference.

This time our real life PSC driver Sean Edwards didn't make it to the qualify (laying on his lazy butt and returning too late from Maldives; tough life eh!). So the expected winner at least had to do some effort to win this one. His Don't Lift Team mate and winner of round 1, Timon Bolier, hoped Sean would suffer from the slow traffic, so he could have a chance of another win again at Barcelona.

TYKA_PSC2008

© StewartRACINGIMAGES

Of course Mr. PSC himself had other ideas, wanting to show he IS the master of PSC and Don't Lift ;). His start at the back of the field in Heat2, Race1 didn't prevent him to shoot straight to P4 in lap 1! Needless to say he won his heat and therefore started from pole in Heat2 Race2, easily winning that one as well, scoring many points in the Drivers Championship. The overall winner of Race1 however was Timon Bolier, taking advantage of Sean's overtaking efforts.

Race 2 however Edwards showed who really is the fastest by taking the overall win, as he is expected to ;).

However Team Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 again did best, with several guys high in the final rankings in both races! Well done guys! To surpise of many, they are still leading the Teams Championship after 4 races! Impressive guys! Both Team Olympic Motor Racing Team 1 as Don't Lift seem to be on the pace! Extending their leads over the following Teams like EU Racers, Lowland Racing Team and prof1tr.
For EU Racing Buattila still manages to save the Team by finishing high in the rankings, giving them plenty of points!

With all superclose racing in these very big heats (again >30 cars per heat!) not all goes well of course. Several suffered from damage after collisions, others lost it by themselves.
One of the victims was one of the Top drivers of the League: JuanFran. Well, this of course gives the change to some of the lesser Gods to score some points, with our renewed point system ;).

I'd like to wish all of you a great race again in Istanbul, and don't feel embarrassed to get your friends in as well ;).

By Timon Bolier:
“I was struggling this round with the car stability vs pushing the limits. I was happy to clinch pole and my main focus for first race was to make a good start and drive from pole to finish. During the first race Pablo Sixto was giving good sustained pressure and managed to close the 1 second gap after a few mistakes of me and a good pace by him. Last 7 laps of the race we were in a heavy fight, we had two close moments under braking at the end of straight. A back marker blocking us coming out of the chicane almost cost me the lead. With all this happening valuable time was lost. I am happy with the win though, with all the pressure of Pablo Sixto and the heats finish time push in your head it's not always easy to do every lap on limit.

Second race, the lights took forever, 2 to 3 seconds.. I released the clutch too early and jumped the start, getting a drive through. At the end of lap 3 into 4 i dove into the pits for the penalty.. I came back around p16 and managed to get up to 8th in the heat, which was 10th overall in the race results. The good news was that Pablo Sixto and Juanfran crashed out giving benefit to me and to the team in the championships, and Edwards managed to win the second race with a very smooth drive.

Don't lift wins again both races, which is great.. also all race drivers of the team performed really well, great round for us!
Congrats mates!”

By Taurus:
“Barcelona, heat 1, race 1.

I never thought, qualifying with a low 1:48 would put me that far back of the grid, but it did happen and it’s no wonder if you come to think of it, when competing in a championship with 87(!) other participants (from 24 countries, btw).
Anyway, I found myself on P18 at start and was hoping not to get into trouble too much.
I just had a great start, no question. I rushed down straight and was able to pass several ppl doing so. I was rather surprised to survive T1 and off I went to continue hunting down more competitors. One of which was Zoneur and if you follow him in race, you always think that he is about to get a heart attach, judging the movement of his car. I can only imagine what kind of movement he does to his wheel and I’m certain, he looses 1Kg of weight each race. I decided to wait until the problem would go away by itself and it did.
The efforts of trying to do a good race set finally paid off, as others in front of me lost grip substantially, especially in the last 4-5 laps. I ended up 10th in the first race.

Barcelona, heat 1, race 2.

Starting from 10th position this time promised to be a big advantage, if I was able to repeat that great start. Surprisingly I was and ended up on 6th or 7th position shortly after. It didn’t last that long as I was tangled in an incident in T5 (Seat) and had to work my way through the disaster which I did rather nicely, only to get hit off the track by some heroes, letting 10 other go by until going back on track safely to continue. Eventually I went back to 10th position and had a long lasting battle with Tygernoot. He had more wing and the whole straight and the complete 1st section of the track I was able to pull away, knowing he will lose traction the last 4-5 laps anyway. Just before the end of the race, running down the back-straight towards “La Caixa”, I was going a bit wide and Tygernoot was able to pass. I ended up 12th and was happy to finish both races to begin with."

Barcelona Debrief

Time for a small debriefing on last weekend's race.

There have been some issues regarding the timezone selection. In some rare cases the selected timezone was stored incorrectly in the system, causing some people to find themselves in the wrong race heat. This issue will be addressed before the next qualifying session. I apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused. Sometimes I have to program things very quickly and don't have the time to properly test them before the release in which these exceptions can happen.

There were also again some issues when the server was switching from the practice session to warmup. Our server is running two full heats simultaneously and after the practice it took a long time to switch sessions. There's nothing we can do about this since it's caused by rFactor's dedicated modules. Unfortunately they skipped warmup to enter directly into race mode, while the grids can only be set in warmup. So I had switch back to practice manually and switch again to warmup to set the grid. This caused Tyka to think the race had started and ended but of course no results were found at that time (hence all the DNFs in the results before I changed them manually). We're currently looking for a better solution or a workaround to prevent this from happening again as it can spoil our automated results submission in league races.

Now about the race itself. We have seen many accidents and crashes happening, which also resulted in a lot of disputes. We would like to stress again to have respect on the track and to drive safely. Some of these accidents could have been avoided easily. There were also people crashing their cars after the race had ended. This is NOT allowed as it can cause lag for others who are still on the track!

We are currently handling all the disputes with the marshals and will penalize depending on the outcome. The race results will not be final until all these disputes have been dealt with. In the meantime the schedule for the Istanbul race is up and the first qualifying session will start Wednesday morning 11h00 CET.

Don't forget to send your race reports of the Barcelona race to cash@tyka.net so they can be added to the news.

See you on the track in Istanbul!

Barcelona Race

The qualifying has ended and the results are again very close. With the top 26 within 2 seconds it's proving to be an exciting race. This morning the TZC heat already raced and this evening TZA & TZB will start.

To clearify how the races work, here is the race system in a nutshell:
  • It is NOT allowed to talk during the race. Any talk, no matter the reason, WILL be penalized.
  • Depending on what timezone you selected and your fastest laptime in the qualifying, you will be in one of the (currently three) heats. To see in which heat you are, you can see the grids here.
  • We will be running two consecutive races where the grid of the first race is based on the qualifying results and the grid of the second race on the results of the first race.
  • When the first race has ended the server will be closed and after a small break (to generate the new grids) the server for the second race will be launched.
  • You will participate in the second race with the same drivers as the first race, but with a different starting grid depending on the results of the first race.
  • The race start will not be delayed for any reason other than technical difficulties on our side. There will be no waiting whatsoever, so make sure you're ready when the race starts and test before joining so you don't encounter any problems at the last minute. Right before the race start the admins will be very busy and most likely won't be able to assist you.
  • For this race there will be two simultaneous race heats for the Timezone A/B group due to the large number of competitors. To know which heat to join in Tyka may not seem totally clear at the moment (it can still use some improvement), but there are multiple ways. On the grids page the room name that will be used in Tyka is written on top. In Tyka, you can check the league room's info to see whether you're in the 'allowed' list for that room. Or you can just try to join one of the rooms. Tyka will either let you join the room or tell you that you're not allowed (and you'll know it's the other one ;)).
The heat times can be found on the right or in more detail here. Enjoy the race and further questions can always be posed on our forum.

Barcelona Qualifying

A new Tyka update was just released with some small modifications for the qualifying. The fully detailed rules will be online shortly and are still being reworked. For any questions about the league procedures, you can always post a message on the forum.

To clear up some of the possible confusions, here is the system in a nutshell:
  • As you can see on the schedule, there are multiple qualifying sessions during the week.
  • You can participate in as many qualifying sessions as you wish.
  • The qualifying sessions are at different times during the day to accommodate members from all over the world.
  • The qualifying session is done in 'private' mode, which means you can see the other drivers' laptimes but don't see the actual cars on the track.
  • If you cannot make it to any of the sessions, please send a mail to our league admin CasH so you can be added to the back of the grid. This is ONLY accepted if done by mail and BEFORE Qualify is over!
  • Due to the time differences there are separate race heats for some timezones. Timezone C (TZC) is separated from TZA and TZB who race together. Click here to see the different timezones.
  • When joining the qualifying for a race, you have to select your timezone. It is also possible to select a different timezone than the one you are in, in case you want to drive at a time which is more convenient for you. Once you have selected a timezone you can no longer change for that race!
  • The race heat times are displayed in the schedule and are driven on Sunday.
  • For this league there are two consecutive races. The grid of the first race is determined by the qualifying sessions, while the grid of the second race is determined by the outcome of the first race.
  • If there are a lot of people qualifying for a race, it can be split into two or more heats which will be driven at the same time but on different servers. After the qualifying the grids will be displayed to know in which heat to participate.
  • The qualifying and race results will be displayed instantly on the website as soon as the session has ended!
  • The replays of the qualifying and race sessions will be made available as soon as the session is over.
  • It is NOT allowed to TALK during the qualifying or the race. Any talking will be dealt with by the marshals after the race and will most definitely result in penalties.

I hope this answers most questions about the league format. Like said before, feel free to ask for more information in the forum.

I am also still working on getting the team admin pages ready, so everyone can organise and update their teams themselves. It will still take a few days, so in the meantime you can send me an email with the team name, the team mananger, the team members and the team's URL (if any) and I will create it for you.

Remember, the first qualifying sessions are tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11h00, 20h30 and 02h00 CET (Central European Time) with 40 minutes to put in your best lap time, preceded by an hour of practice and followed by a small 4-lap race for your amusement and to practice a race start.

The next sessions are on Friday at the same hours with the race on Sunday. See you on the grid and enjoy!

Bahrain, Race Report and important reading

Welcome all to the first ever driven League race through TYKA!
This Winter we run the Fanatec PSC2008 MOD by Taurus.
Before we go to the reports, pics and stuff, I'd like to personally thank my friend Tygernoot, who spent so much time and effort to create the best client ever: TYKA! Yes, with some minor support from Veldt000 and CasH (very minor :P).
I hope you all will enjoy our new client and of course the Leagues we'll run!

Now off to the first track: Bahrain.
Due to the huge number of contesters, we even had to split the Race in 2 heats (TZA/TZB and TZC). The results are combined to one final result per race.
70 Contesters for the first race ever is just amazing!

After a new type of qualify (read about it HERE) it already became clear it would be SO close in the races!
Timon Bolier (Team Don't Lift)grabbed pole, very closely followed by JuanFran (Olympic Motor Racing Team 1) and Pablo Sixto (Olympic Motor Racing Team 1). The gap was only 0.047 seconds between 1st and 3rd! Promising...

Now the races ...

As said, grids of >30 cars per race! Imagine the sheer adrenaline going at the start! Amazingly all went well, without mentionable troubles. Congrats all!
Timon Bolier took the lead in both races and never gave his position up anymore. A true Teammate for the missing Sean Edwards, who had important stuff to do (read: lying on his lazy ass during a holiday, which he has all year anyway :D).

Bahrain couldn't have gone any better for Timon Bolier

Of course in crowded races like this, specially when split into 2, it is almost impossible for me to review all that happens. Mainly I have to rely on YOUR news reports. So please keep sending me, telling YOUR story of the race! Team wise, it however wasn't Don't Lift leading the boards after both races! Guess they DO need Chavvy Edwards to pull that off ;).

Leaders are Olympic Motor Racing Team 1, led by their Team Captain Iñigo Otermin. He managed to get some new, very fast drivers in, like Pablo Sixto and Andreas Spengler. GREAT job guys!

Pablo Sixto was a consistent podium visitor

EU Racers, led by our MOD developer Taurus, is firmly in 3rd place.
The runner up Team in our previous F1 League, Lowland Racing Team (LRT) couldn't hold up with the pace, with their F1 Champion Tygernoot as best driver finishing only in 13th place overall. Therefore LRT is only fourth up to now (mind the 'up to now' :P).

Note that after the initial announcement, we changed the points scoring system! Initially we copied the real PSC points system, as we want to simulate that Series.

But as they have way less contesters, and we want to keep it interesting for all of you, we changed it to the one described HERE. The difference between drivers will remain the same, just more can score. That's it in a nutshell.

To close this first news, I'd like to thank you all for your interest in TYKA and our Leagues! Please pass it on and get your friends as well, to make our Leagues even bigger!

Read below for some Race Reports, but next time please send MORE! We want to hear ALL that happened!

Off to practice now for our next races at Barcelona, where Qualify opens the 7th of January!

Fantastic turn out for TZC first race at Bahrain, plenty of driver from all parts of the world, were in my group,,but the time frame suited them,as it did I lol

Practice

I had a fantastic practice sesion with team fellow Black Panda Racing Team(ty Team) and other fellow racers.A few ty to Timon Boiler,Taurus,Cash,Tyger a few sleepless nites and overwhelm eager to help us all out, cheers.

my PB at this track was a blisting 2:07:001 but was more comftable with my slower high 2:08's tryed a few setups, but stuck with what I felt best for me.
lost count of how many practice laps were put into this track lol.

Quailfy

Two stints at this, as time frames, suited, anyways second seasion managed a 2:08.428 (found this a bit unusally as no other car was on track, with you,yet they were out there as well) third seasion managed a slower 2:08:446

Seasion two 19th/20 Seasion three 16/34 overall 48/70

Race 1

Started 14/21 had a bad start missing second gear(sweety fingers)back end drifted at start, got speared before even crossing start line lol,at first corner was in 21st postion(didnt really settle after that) didnt see to much action in the race or behind me,but saw a few clouds of smoke in front, raced on finding some speed, but about lap 6 car felt horrible,so decided to pit, costing me big time, all the fast leaders lapped me ,whilst sitting in pit getting repairs/gas/tyres,out of pits safely raced around a lap or two, before the fast races finished the first of the two races.

Race 2

Well a few races for various reason didnt get back to race 2, started 18 in this ,could see all from here, first corner was a bit mayhem to say the least lol smoke every were, had some good battles in this race,a few bumps and nudges, but all good, honest racing in my books. settled in well finding a good pace 2:09's was happy with all the way to the end, having a few spin in hairpin and at the S's finally finishing 12th in race,a very good result in all.

Summary

A few chats in race, and a few Incidents to be reported, but all in all WTG awesome league (This Panda now heads off to a well deserved family break, see you all, best wishes and new years)".

By Stokerel:
"First of all, congratulations for all the hard work organizing this! Keep it up and if there is anything us "users" can do to help, just ask :)

Two very good races for me, but very hard... had to be as close to 100% all the time.
In Race1, gained 5 or 6 places at the start (I'm really getting used to launching of the grid biggrin.gif) then lost a place to ricardo in lap 2-3 followed by a great battle with _Chacal__ through the second half, great clean driving from him (thanks m8 good.gif ). All ended happily with a 11 place finnish, the best I could do considering the 16th place at the start.

Race2 was an almost carbon copy of race1, gaining again 5 places at the start, chasing tyger almost all the race distance. I somehow managed to get in front of him but it was very hard to keep the position (great battle tyger, very clean wink.gif ). The race ended when I closed on ricardo, with Marc right on my exhausts, finishing a more enthusiastic 6th.

Overall, great very fair racing, very demanding as I'm not used to give 105% all over the race distance.
Congratulations Timon for two very convincing victories and all of you guys (buattila, you are getting really good m8, I have to step up the trainings friends.gif to even come close)"

Race Heats

OK, after depriving myself of sleep again I'm now nearly ready with the latest updates for the league :p

This morning the TZC drivers (and some from TZB who couldn't make it this evening) have already driven their heat. The results can be seen online here:
Race 1: http://www.tyka.net/leagues/PSC/race-results.php?race_id=3
Race 2: http://www.tyka.net/leagues/PSC/race-results.php?race_id=4

The results were added manually in that case, since the client wasn't ready yet.

The race results submission has now been implemented in the client (only required for the server so's no client update necessary). It hasn't been tested though, so it will be really interesting to see whether it works straight away. If not, I'll add the results manually as well.

The qual is now finalized with points distributed to drivers only. The teams still need to be updated, which will be done in coming days. The points will be added to the teams afterwards.

Since there are many competitors for TZA/TZB, there will be two heats.

You can check in which heat you will participate here:
http://www.tyka.net/leagues/PSC/grids.php?race_id=6
http://www.tyka.net/leagues/PSC/grids.php?race_id=1

The name of the room you are in is shown on the grids page. This is the room name that will be shown in the client as well. The room will be private and only those on the grid can join, so you cannot accidentally join the wrong heat.

Here is the schedule for this evening:
Race 1 (both heats)
20u20 Room Opens (Practice)
21u00 Warmup (& grid is set)
21u10 Race Start
~21u40 Race End

21u40 - 22u00 The rooms will close, the results will be submitted (hopefully ;)) and the news grids will be computed based on the race results.

Race 2 (both heats)
~22u00 Room Opens (Practice)
22u10 Warmup (& grid is set)
22u20 Race Start
~22u50 Race End

23u00 The rooms will close and again result submission.

Sorry for all the last-minute news and updates, but I've been working non-stop for the past week(s) in order to get everything ready, so please don't kill me in case there are problems or things go a bit hectic :). For the next races everything should go a lot smoother.

Enjoy the races this evening!

Teams

Unfortunately the team pages aren't ready yet. For now, we'll adjust the teams manually until I have the pages ready.

You can see the current teams here: http://www.tyka.net/teams.php

Sorry if the page loads a bit slowly, it has to query a lot of data from the database :)

To update the teams: Let the team manager send me an email containing the drivers he/she wants to add or remove.

To add a new team: Let the new team manager send me an email containing the team name, team webpage (if any) and the drivers to be added to the team.

Send the mail to tygernoot@tyka.net.

I will try to get the team pages up and ready as soon as possible. If in the meantime the result pages still show the wrong team, just wait for the team pages to be updated :)

League System Details

New League System

The championship rules still need to be reworked to explain the new Tyka league system in detail. Like all the rest, this will be done as soon as possible. In the meantime, here's already a short explanation on how the system works.
  • The currently active race schedule is displayed in the right menu. It shows when the qualifying and race sessions will take place.
  • The races consist of two periods: the qualifying and the race period.
  • During the qualifying period there will be multiple qualifying sessions at different times to ensure everyone has a chance of qualifying for the league.
  • You can join as many qualifying sessions as you like. The best laptime you achieved will be used to determine your starting position.
  • Cutting the track is not allowed and can result in your laptime from that qualifying session to be removed.
  • If you are unable to make it to any of the sessions, you can be added to the back of the grid by sending a mail before the qualifying period ends to cash@tyka.net.
  • We will be running two consecutive races per race weekend. The qualifying sessions will determine the starting grid for the first race. The grid of the second race are determined by the results of the first race.
  • Races may be split into two or more heats, depending on the number of participants. These heats will be running simultanously and you can check the grids on the site to know in which heat to drive.

Qualifying Delayed

Unfortunately we will have to delay the first qualifying sessions, which were due to start Wednesday 17 December. There are still some things missing (e.g. the teams pages) and the client is still lacking a few features. Therefore the qualifying sessions will be held on Friday 19 December and the race will go ahead as planned this Sunday. This also gives some more time for everyone who just downloaded the mod to get acquainted with the cars.

I'm sorry to do all these things very last-minute. I've been spending all my spare time for the past few weeks on getting everything finished, but I underestimated the time it would take. Designing the league system, developing the database and client, updating the server module, creating a new website, testing... it's all a huge amount of work with a very complex underlying system (but easy for the admins and users), and there's only so much I can do. So please bear with me while I continue to update everything.

After the first race in Bahrain, we'll be taking some time off for the holidays and continue at Barcelona after New Year's. This gives me some time to finalize everything that isn't ready yet for Bahrain, so by then it should all be working flawlessly :)

Fanatec Porsche Supercup 2008 is go !

intro

We are proud to present one of the biggest, ever hosted online championships. The first championship hosted on Tyka!
As last year, our premier sponsor fanatec will give us the opportunity to hand out 3 great prices, which are:

1st
2nd
3rd

Want to see them in action?

Please click here for all details or any fanatec button.

This year, the first 3 Positions will qualify for the 1st prize, places 4-10 for the 2nd and places 11-20 for the 3rd prize.

The winners will be chosen by random, giving everybody a fair chance of winning one of the great prizes. All administrators are precluded to win any of the prizes.

Here some pictures from last years winners:
cockpit wheel controller

We will be running all 11 races in the same sequence as in real life.
Find out about the real Mobil1 Porsche Supercup series here and here about the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, which is being used.
We've tried to be as close as possible to the real thing and used the famous mod "PCC2007", made by gsmf. The physics of PMSC2007 are going to be used and remain untouched, only power and tires are updated. Lap-times resemble the times accomplished by the real drivers.

As most of you know, our valued member Sean Edwards, winner of many online-championships in the past, was appointed by Konrad Motorsport to run the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup series as their No. 1 driver. He completed the season as 5th overall (Team 1st) with 2 superb wins, the two wet-races Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps.
Edwards will compete in this championship (possibly joined by another real life Supercup driver) and he will be taking his qualifying times from real racing over to this championship, to add for exitement.

Support your driver/country by choosing 1 of 31 cars. Drivers are from Netherlands(7), Germany(6), Spain(2), England(2), Austria(2), Belgium, CZ, Italy, Slovakia, Japan, Finland, USA, Portugal, Ireland, China, Switzerland and Sweden.
Car No. 22 is reserved for Sean Edwards only.
