Race Reports:
AMA:
By Joao Pinho:
"As team
captain, I'm extremely pleased with Men of War Motorsport's
performance this weekend. It's roughly our first GP (at
Monaco, only 1 driver could race) and we've scored 110
points, and showed we've got the pace, although 2 of our
drivers couldn't be present: Manuel Costa (he had his first
grandson this sunday) and André Santos (net problems). We
don't need to say we're here to stay and to be competitive,
we hope our results can speak for themselves, since our goal
is 3rd place in the constructor's championship, although
we've missed 5 races.
As this
team's driver, I have mixed feelings at the end of the race.
Thanks to Ricardo's accident, I leaped into the race lead
after the first corner, and was able to control the pace of
the race and my closest followers (Bodgan and Flyer). I made
no big mistakes, and I'm very happy, since this was my first
race in Tyka. In the other hand, I lost the lead of the race
in the last corners... I was overtaken by a furiously fast
Ricardo Ferreira, due to my inexperience. My congratulations
to him, he's been super-fast all-over the weekend! See you
in Canada!"
By Riccardoferreira:
"Complicated
race for me.
But starting with the Q, I know i had to make the POLE and win
the race this race because champ points. So for first time this
season could be present in 3 sessions, i did more laps. I
improved my time in all sessions all, until it reaches 1.25.9
which gave me POLE, the third POLE this season.
In the race I tried to have the best possible start, pulled up
well, but I looked at the wheel and when i looked again to
forward was too late, i hit Machiel, and we go off too last!
From there "maximum attack" i try all i can. to go P1 again,
and i did that in last corner, when i pass Joaopinho.
I had greats fights all race, thanks to a Snakey_Uk have opened
the door. I also found the worst player too pass, NMansell. I
also had a nice fight with A_C_Muller funny, I think we do three
or four corners wheel to wheel.
Congratulations to Joao Pinho, first race he did in Tyka and a
great P2, and again congratulations to my the team (LRT) great
result in the AMA as in EXP, another podium for Danny3L (and he
is fighting for champ) i think we have a proud Capitan ! :)"

By Machiel:
"I wasn't
satisfied with the balence of the car all week, yet 3rd in
qualifying wasn't too bad. The start was good and I overtook
Ricardo Ferreira on the left. I was gonna go into turn 1
side by side with João Pinho, when Ricardo hit me. I spun
and took quite some damage. After the accident I was last,
and I was just trying to pick of as much places as I could
in a short time. There was progress but logically the
opponents became tougher and tougher. Turn 8 was a real
bitch to follow drivers through, the rest of the track was
fine.
After the
pitstops I was in P6. Ricardo was behind me and flew past me
really, he was a lot quicker in corners and had way more
topspeed as well. With about 10 laps to go he started making
his way upfront, I tried to follow his progress the best I
could, but got stuck in 5th place behind Flyer23.
So
certainly, I'm not very happy about the outcome of this
race, but it happens and then you've got to make the most of
it."
By
NMansell:
“First of all my I offer my
congratulatory hand to ricardoferreira - what a victory
that was... I'm still not entirely sure I know how he
did it but still...
I got a terrible start and
lost a couple of places at the start but I guess Turn 1
caught out ricardoferreira and Machiel who seemed to
disappear off the timing screens. By the time we got to
Turns 3,4,5 I was in 5th place sat in behind my two
team-mates Flyer23 (3rd) and Snakey_UK (4th).
A few laps later, Snakey ran
wide at Turn 10 and this was the chance I need to slip
through into 4th and finally a bit of clear air!! The
front three at the time (joaopinho, Bogdan Georgescu and
Flyer23) were only around 3-4s up the road so I just got
my head down and tried to do some consistent times.
On lap 15, joaopinho and
myself dived for the pits, hoping a good in lap would
see me jump a place or two in the pit stops. Some
excellent work from the Team World Racing pit crew got
me out again in 6.8s. This put me right back on the tail
of the three leaders, even managing to go side by side
by side with Bogdan Georgescu and Flyer23.
Again, another quiet period
ensued but that was before the charging ricardoferreira
caught me with 7 laps remaining. Even with my hard (but
I should point out clean and fair) defence both
ricardoferreira and Machiel got past.
Just saw out of the
remaining six laps with no real scare to finish 6th and
what is my best result in F1!!
What with Flyer23 finishing
4th, and Snakey_Uk, Ianstuart and Arti finishing 8th,
9th and 10th respectively... Team World Racing are
fighting back in the AMA teams championship! Don't write
us off... Well..."
By Flyer23:
"As the lights went out
I got a decent start but for me there was much lag
and I tried to be very careful through T1. On the
exit going up the hill I see I am P2. I push hard
but
joaopinho
was too
quick for me on the first lap and I also got passed
by Bogdan
Georgescu . I pushed very
hard because I knew my strategy would let me go at
least one more lap than them so I needed to keep
them in sight. We stayed the entire race only a few
seconds apart. By the time pit stops came I had P1
for 1 lap. I pushed as hard as I could to make time.
I thought I might keep P1 but came out of the pits
on the gearbox of joaopinho. I drafted down the long
straight to T12 got along side but missed my braking
point and went off. I entered safely but lost P2 and
was P3 again. The 3 of us were nose to tail with
Nigel Mansell not far behind so I knew I could not
make any other mistakes. My set up was for
consistency and lacked top speed so I could not make
any pass attempts unless they made mistakes, which
they made few. With a few laps remaining I see that
ricardoferreira is closing fast. There was
nothing I could do to stop him unless I hit him like
Webber/Vettel in the same spot. I let him go because
he was 10 MPH faster on the straight. I kept them
all in sight. I think if I got by these guys early I
would have been quicker and could have had a gap by
the time
ricardoferreira got close. It was not to be but
this was the BEST race I have had in a long time.
All of the drivers I raced with were great. Giving
room when needed and being wide when they had to.
Great racing for the entire race and the top five
crossed the line covered by 5 seconds. A great race
and I hope to fight again at the front only this
time beating Ricardoferreira by speed and not his
usual poor starts….."

"Great
race there in Turkey, not from my final position in
driver standings point of view, but an overall
outstanding motorsport show.
Start of the race: I was 3rd on the grid
for Heat 2, with Cash being in pole and Veldt
following him. Poor start for Cash and great start
for me and Veldt, both being able to pass him, so
after the first corner Veldt was leading and I was
running close on his back.
Unfortunately my lack of experience and emotions
revealed before finishing the first lap, when
braking a bit earlier into the chicane Jos managed
to pass me followed soon after by Cash. After this I
was thinking just to keep my calm and concentration,
be patient and make no mistakes.
In
lap 3 I was enjoying the great battle that was in
front of me between Jos and Cash, Cash managing to
pass in having a better exit from the long turn 8.
Then in lap 12 Cash made a mistake and Jos passed
him again. The continued to have a great fight in
front of me, Cash passing Jos again in the same
place as lap 3. After 18 laps I had my first pit of
the race, and Bryan and Don Hulio passed me. Next
lap Don Hulio entered the pits too but he managed to
exit right in front of me. We had great fights
trough the middle of the race, passing him in lap 29
before the long straight but then braking a bit
early permitted him to come back. In lap 36 was my
turn to pass again at the end of the long straight
but locking the wheels on braking and going a bit
wide into the chicane gives enough room to Don Hulio
to regain the lost position (great fight with this
man!). In lap 38 I’ve entered the pits for my last
stop and the story repeats, Don Hulio making his
stop a lap later and managing again to exit right in
front of me – very frustraiting. Jos, who had a
slower pace, running in front of us pitted in lap
40, and both myself and Don Hulio passed him while
he was on the pits. I was quite satisfied then
because I was confident that I will eventually
manage to pass over Don Hulio, because he was a
little bit slower in a few places and corners of the
track. We both continued to have great battle, but
we both made some mistakes and in lap 46 the fight
was result was pretty much decided: I had a better
top speed on the long straight and passed him on the
exterior into the chicane, having the interior
prepared for the right corner in front, but he
closed the door pretty brutal, fact that made us
collide, with no damage for myself anyway. He kept
his position and I was now a little scared, thinking
that it is better to finish the race than ending
with a DNF. Meanwhile Jos was forcing in my back and
one lap later, due to some loosing of my
concentration translated into a stupid mistake he
passed me on the long straight. Then being faster
than him, in lap 56 I was trying to regain my lost
position. Having the interior at the end of the long
straight I attacked, but Jos had in my opinion an
unfair behavior turning left way to close and
hitting me from behind, fact that made me spin. Next
two laps I could do nothing more, just cruising
behing Don Hulio and Jos, finishing the race in 6th
position (15th in general after Jos
having added that 5 sec penalty from Monaco).
Generally speaking it was a great race with a lot of
fights, in which I could finish in a better
position, but due to my lack of experience I made
some mistakes that I hope not to repeat in the
future.
Looking forward to Canadian GP at Montreal, I salute
you all!"
By Danny3L:
"Overall I must say I am
quite happy with the result. Starting 5th, with
tough competitors ahead and behind it looked to be a
tough race and it was. Had a decent start to
maintain position passing some, while being passed
by Inigo (great start m8). Fought for a couple of
turn before I was able to squeeze in into T1 and get
3rd place. Luciano and Juan were also trading
positions at the front of the pack, and while they
tangled I found myself in 1st place with Okan right
on my gear box. With a top speed of 314 I was not
able to keep Okan behind, he passed in the last
complex to run away for the win. The first pit stop
was frustrating...was kept for 9 seconds and on top
of that I braked too early for the speed limit. 2nd
stint Locutus and Luciano were even closer. After a
great battle Locutus was able to pass and take 2nd
position followed by Luciano a few laps later. 2nd
pit stop was much better. Got 3rd place again and
the battle with Locutus and Luciano kept on for a
couple of more laps before Locutus was able to put
some seconds between us. Luciano was able to pass me
after some good fighting...only to run wide on lap
56 and hand me the last podium position.
Congratulations to Okan for winning this race having
started 10th!!! Great driving. An unforgettable race
and hopefully Canada will bring the same kind of
action."

"... Great race,
Istanbul Park! I made excelent start and keep
pushing attack on Juan Fran and lap 2 or 3 dont
remember, i won 1st... But one idiot mistake i lost
many position when i spin ALONE LOLLLL, and to
complete me and Juan crash me and affect my
suspension (Sry Juan) Bad lucky for us... But i made
my strategics with or without damages ( i forgot
damage and keep pushing MAX ). The great BATTLE i do
with Locutus and Danny3L.... COMPLETE FAIR
FIGTHS!!!!
Almost final race i won position Danny3L (3st) but
one more time MISTAKE, when i m close to enter S
turn i take it the Coke Cola to drink and DAMNN....
go out to track and lost position (3st) :( :( :( !
But one excelent race in geral... Weldone for Okan
Predatore!..."
By Nemesis:
"I started heavy on fuel
23laps(stint) got a clean start and gained a
couple of places before turn 2, the first
lap or so I yo-yo'd a bit getting stuck in
traffic etc. Before the field spread out
more comfortably, I had Tyger Sennador Inigo
Walter and Kostas all relatively close
behind me after some lost time in turn 8
which my car seemed to cope with very well.
I was having to push hard while not entirely
comfortable with my car, struggling for grip
quite badly as my tyres overheated. There
were some great duels which I think I
managed to defend cleanly which were great
fun.
Coming in to pit I was hoping I could make
the most of my extra laps out while light
and stay ahead of Tyger and Sennador who
were blatantly a bit faster. Unfortunately I
missed out on both by a second and they both
started to sprint away at quite a pace.
Kostas behind didn't seem able to catch me
however and Sennador made a mistake and I
got past him luckily. The rest of the stint
I spent defending him.
I pitted for my last time only needing fuel
for 13 laps, I came out a few seconds ahead
of Sennador and on fresh tyres I was able to
push away a little and keep the gap to Tyger
the same, setting my fastest lap in that
time. In the end I was just pushing to make
sure I wasn't lapped by Okan and came home
comfortably in 7th about 30 seconds off the
front pack. It was about as well as I could
have done considering I had little faith in
my tyres and a good result in a competitive
race!"
By Tygernoot:
" "What could have
been." - the title of my report of this very
exciting race.
The first stint was a total chaos. I had a bad start
from 7th and was hindered in T1 having to brake for
other cars making me lose a position right away.
What followed was a 22-lap battle between Nemesis,
Otermin, Kostas and me. Switching places often by
having to brake for the driver ahead and getting
passed by the car behind, going wide in T8 through
dirty air… In the end I was even stuck in 10th
position losing more than a second per lap, while
the front runners were disappearing into the
distance.
Through the pitstops I managed to get ahead of all
of them and was finally free in some clean air to
make up time. I didn't have any fights in the second
stint, so I tried to push and was keeping up with
JuanFran's pace, who was some 10 seconds ahead of
me. It's common knowledge that he wears out his
tyres more quickly than others, so I knew there were
chances of overtaking him near the end of the race.
In lap 43 I went in for my second stop and was only
some 5 second behind JuanFran at that point. With
only 15 laps to go and my tyres having to do a few
less laps than Juan's, this was the time to pressure
him and find a way to overtake. Until the end of the
race we continued to battle. Regardless of his tyre
problems, I never really found a way to overtake,
and he resisted the pressure very well.
I was amazed to find out Locutus in 2nd position was
only a mere 9 seconds ahead of me after the finish,
considering I was stuck in my entire first stint.
There are no ifs in F1, but it does make me wonder
what could have been.
I'm really enjoying this season so far, and now
looking forward to Canada, which has always been one
of my favorites."
